DIRECTOR OF MUSIC MINISTRY

Hunter Presbyterian Church is seeking a Director of Music Ministry to build upon its tradition of musical excellence that is valued by the congregation. The right individual will offer nurturing leadership skills to enhance the current program by providing forward-thinking, spiritually empowering models of music ministry. We seek a Director who embraces all generations and skill levels, who values the worship experience, and who seeks to engage with the life of the congregation through fellowship and connection.
We are a body of people with diverse convictions, who come together to worship God through compassionate engagement and dialogue. Our worship services are based on the traditions of the Presbyterian Church (USA).
This position is currently approximately 10 hours per week on average, with an annual salary of $14,000 – $15,000.

DIRECTOR OF MUSIC MINISTRY JOB DESCRIPTION
—Conduct the adult choir in weekly rehearsal of about 1 hour, and in weekly Sunday services and occasional special services or community events, with warm-up ahead of service
—Be mindful of the liturgical calendar and any special emphases in selecting music
—Select the music in time to rehearse it sufficiently, and notify the Administrative Assistant of each Sunday’s music selections by the preceding Thursday morning
—In coordination with the Pastor and the Worship Committee, select service music appropriate to the liturgical season
—Work in cooperation with the organist and pastor
—Attend and participate in Worship Committee meetings (usually monthly).
—Keep the choir library in good order
—Recruit, hire, and supervise professional or semi-professional singers to serve as Choral Scholars who anchor sections and occasionally sing solos
—Take leadership in any fundraising activities to support the choral scholars
—Supervise the maintenance (tuning and repair) of church instruments (organ and pianos)
